The Nicomachos Climate Justice Fund is a private fund, where applications can be made to finance new climate lawsuits.

Nicomachos is a fund that aims to enable innovation and dynamism in the field of climate litigation, in the belief that creativity, courage and action are crucial for law to fight the climate crisis.

What can you apply for? Nicomachos primarily reimburses the costs of lawyers to be hired externally for a lawsuit at a socially acceptable hourly rate. Lawsuits can involve all areas of law, both in and outside the Netherlands. > read more
Who can apply? Applications can be submitted by NGOs and/or more or less organised community groups. Preferably foundations (according to Dutch law) with ANBI (or similar foreign) status, or associations that demonstrably serve the public interest and whose legal and business details are available. > read more

The ‘Ethica Nicomachea’ is the Greek philosopher Aristotle's (384 - 322 BC) main work on ethics. Both the philosopher's father and son were called Nicomachos. According to tradition, son Nicomachos played an important role in putting this work of his father's in writing.
